Lone Star and Austin Schutzhund Clubs are proud to announce the 2008 United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA) German Shepherd National Schutzhund III Championship will be held November 7-9 in Hutto, TX.
Lone Star and Austin Schutzhund Clubs will host the 2008 United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA) German Shepherd National Schutzhund III Championship November 7-9 in Hutto, TX. The event will be held at the World’s Largest Dog Training facility, Triple Crown Dog Academy.
Schutzhund was developed in Germany for the German Shepherd Dog in the early 1900’s as a breed worthy temperament test to determine if a dog possessed the desirable working traits necessary for police or military work. Schutzhund is the triathlon for working dogs and it is recognized throughout the world today, as a measure for the loyal, secure, and confident nature of the true working German Shepherd dog. The three phases include Tracking, Obedience and Protection, with the protection phase being the most spectacular to watch. There are three levels in Schutzhund with level three (Schutzhund III) being the master class. Each phase of Schutzhund has a 100 point value. This national event is for German Shepherd Dogs and handlers who have already attained their Schutzhund III title and have competed at a regional level and have obtained a score of 270 or better out of 300. Nationals is the kick off of three events, for America’s top competitors, to qualify for the team of five (5) representing the United States of America at the 2009 World Championship. The 2009 World Championship will be held in Germany to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the German Shepherd Dog.

About the hosting Clubs: Lone Star Schutzhund Club has been in existence for the past 15 years and the Austin Schutzhund club has been in existence for the past 25 years. Both clubs train in the Greater Austin area. During this time many members from both clubs have trained and competed with their German Shepherd dogs at the local, Regional, National and World Championship level with their dogs. We are proud and excited to host such a prestigious event here in Texas.
