We understand the recent pet food recall has created trying times for many pet owners. We share your concerns regarding this evolving situation. The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced recently that a limited number of wheat gluten lots became contaminated with an outside substance not approved for use in food. It is believed that this wheat gluten came from a single source in China.
Upon hearing this announcement StarMark immediately contacted our Asian supplier regarding the content of their wheat gluten material. We have since received a Certificate of Natural Origin from the manufacturer of our wheat gluten qualifying that no artificial ingredients are found in the raw material. Furthermore, no rodenticides or similar chemicals/poisons are used in the plant.
StarMark has submitted treats to an independent FDA approved lab in the US for melamine testing. The results showed that our treats tested affirmatively as safe for consumption with no melamine content. We continue to conduct testing of all our raw materials prior to manufacture, as well as testing of the finished product. Random samples are also submitted for testing once in the US. As such StarMark treats are not affected by the recent food recall and we invite you to use them with confidence. If you have any questions on the matter, please feel free to contact us.
